Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confident of qualification for the knock-out stage- UCL news
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is confident that his side will qualify for the knock-out phase of the UEFA Champions League after their 2-0 win against Manchester City at Allianz Arena on Tuesday. He hailed the players
for putting in a bravura performance in front of the home fans and was delighted with the impressive display.
Die Bayern lead Group-A after winning both the games played and Manchester City have slipped to third after the defeat. The Bavarians dominated the game right from the start were awarded all three points courtesy a brace from striker
Mario Gomez.
Rummenigge claimed that it was a brilliant display from Bayern Munich, who have now extended their winning streak to 10 games and have not conceded a single goal, and praised the player’s performances. He admitted that the opposition
started the match brilliantly but his team made its way back into the game.
“That was a good display and a great team performance, although Manchester City were also excellent in the first 30 minutes, when they showed what a good team they are. But in the second half we were totally on top of them,” he
was quoted as saying.
The former Bayern Munich striker hailed Franck Ribery and Jerome Boateng for the amazing performances in midfield and defence. He remained confident that the Munich giants have a very good chance of qualifying for the Round of
16 after winning the opening two games.
“All the team played well, but Franck Ribery and Jerome Boateng were exceptional. We've put ourselves in a great position to qualify for the last 16. The second half was very good and we deserved to win it. We've kept another clean
sheet and that's class,” he concluded.
