Bayern Munich midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has admitted that he had considered joining Inter Milan in the summer last year, when his contract was about to expire at Die Bayern, but then left off the option for his German club. Bastian got his
contract renewed with a 5-year extension deal which will extend his stay at Allianz Arena.
Bastian also mentioned that even though http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan is a tough opponent, it is AC Milan that he actually fears. Inter were the top contenders in luring the magnificent midfielder last year owing much to his excellent performances during the South African
World Cup 2010. Despite all the efforts, the deal didn’t materialize and the German international stayed at his home club. Commenting on his contract renewal, Bastian said:
“I stayed where I was even if Inter fascinated me with their past and present success.”
Bastian was asked whether he’s afraid of Inter Milan, looking at the last year defeat in the Champions League final, the defender said:
“No, it seems to me that the faces of Milan's players are scarier. We are Bayern. We are here to win and if we can't do that, then at least score a goal. I wouldn't like a 0-0.”
Bayern Munich face Inter Milan in the Champions League face off on Tuesday as the defending champions are the hosts. The clash is reckoned to be a re-match of last year’s final. Last year, Inter beat Die Roten in the Champions League final thanks to
two splendid goals by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Milito-c11166.
Just like the Arsenal vs. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38605 match in the past week, the Inter-Bayern face off is also a highly anticipated match. Both clubs have great history of successful seasons with a combined 7 Champions League titles between the two.
Bayern Munich this year, are led by Mario Gomez and Thomas Muller, both in good goal scoring form. Both strikers scored in the last Bundesliga fixture against Mainz 05 to secure the victory for Die Roten, despite Gomez suffering an ankle injury during
the match, the attacker is said to be fully fit and ready for the match against the Italians.
Bayern manager, Louis Van Gaal will be pretty happy with the options he has for the upcoming game. French midfielder Frank Ribery and the sensational Dutch winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 are both reported to be fit for the match. Both the players were having
fitness issues and their presence was doubtful for the clash against Mainz 05, but their appearance has been confirmed for the big game against the Italians.
The Bavarians have won their last 4 league matches out of 5 and would be looking forward to replicate the same form in the Champions League clash.
