Bayern Munich boss says that they are better than last year despite poor start
Bayern Munich manager Louis van Gaal said today that he believes his team is even better than they were last year.
This claim comes despite the fact that the Bundesliga champions are off to their worst league start in 33 years, having won just one of their four matches so far — drawing two games and losing 2-0 to newly-promoted Kaiserslautern, while already holding a
negative goal difference.
Nevertheless, van Gaal has declared that the results don’t tell the whole story and insisted that his team was playing well.

He said, “I am not going to reproach anyone. I have analysed the season and I can't say we are playing badly. We're playing much better than last year.”
Van Gaal, who led Bayern to last season’s UEFA Champions League final, added that the team was under pressure to start delivering results.
He said that, “The players know what happens when we win a few points. The pressure comes from the outside, from the media and directors. It's normal, we're a big team and should be up the top, but there is a long way to go.”
Bayern’s next four league games — against Hoffenheim away, Mainz at home, Borussia Dortmund away and Hannover at home —will provide them with a good opportunity to pick up some wins and get some more points as they seek to defend their title.
The club’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes that his side will be able to use that run of winnable games to help them return to their best. He told German newspaper
Bild that it was too early in the season to properly asses the club’s performance. He is “...convinced that [Bayern] will reach 100 per cent in the not-so-distant future”, while “...everyone can expect that at some point we will lead the table again.”
