Bayern Munich chief determined to keep Bastian Schweinsteiger

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has said that he will pull out all the stops to keep Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup star has less than two years remaining on his contract and has drawn admiring glances from the likes of English Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United.

Schweinsteiger has grown to become one of the finest midfielders in the world with the Bundesliga champions, drawing comparisons with Barcelona’s Xavi Hernandez for his range of passing, and Hoeness is determined to keep hold of his man.

Hoeness told television channel LIGA, "Bastian certainly knows what he has got here. It is not like he is going to have to sign up for benefits. If our guys need more money from the board, then they will get it. We will not be tight because we know exactly
how important he is for us.

"Everybody in Europe has got to start learning what they are up against with FC Bayern, and that it is not so easy to sign our players."
Spent entire career with club

Schweinsteiger has spent his entire professional career with the Bavarian club after coming through their youth academy.

He made his first-team debut in the UEFA Champions League in 2002, aged just 18, and he made his mark on the game quickly by setting up a goal.

The 26-year-old went on to establish himself as an important player in the Bayern squad. In total, he has made 319 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 37 goals and providing 59 assists. He has won five league titles and five DFB Cups,
and also helped Bayern reach the 2010 Champions League final.

Schweinsteiger is also a key player for the Germany national team. He has made 72 appearances and scored 19 goals while helping his country to third-place finishes at consecutive World Cups and the final of the UEFA 2008 European Football Championship.
