Bayern Munich skipper Philipp Lahm is targeting a win in the Bavarian derby against FC Nuremberg. The defender claimed that his side wants to win the match desperately in order to be back on track after last week’s defeat to Hannover
in the league.
The German international is confident that the team has the quality to overcome any challenge from the opposition and that Bayern have what it takes to win the title this season.
Bayern are on the top of the Bundesliga standings table with 22 points from the ten games they have played so far whereas their opponents http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 are in 13th place with 12 points with three wins and four losses.
The Bavarian derby has always been a heated fixture and is one of the most intense derbies in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
Lahm claimed that the match against Nuremberg will be a special fixture for his team and that it would be a great experience. He admitted that most of his teammates do not consider the clash an eventful one and share the opposite
feeling. He is confident that Bayern will capitalize on the mid-week 6-0 win in the German Cup and secure three points in the end.
“For me as a Bavarian it is definitely something special to play against Nurnberg again and experience such a derby, but I don't think there are many others in the team who share my feeling,” the skipper was quoted as saying in
an interview.
The German international is determined to win and is sure that Bayern will dominate the match and score many goals also. He hailed the team’s character after the amazing performance against FC Ingolstadt earlier this week and predicted
a repeat of the display.
“There are only a few individuals like Thomas Muller, for example, for whom this game will be special, but for the rest it will be a game like any other. A win is our aim and it is even better if we do it impressively and dominantly,”
the defender concluded.
Bayern Munich and FC Nuremberg will lock horns on Saturday at the Allianz Arena.
