Bayern Munich goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt surprised over being dropped from first team – Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt has claimed that he could not understand former manager Louis van Gaal’s decision of dropping him from the first team and bringing in the 22-year-old Thomas Kraft in place of him.
The Germany international stated that he had warned the manager of the decision and in the end it cost Gaal his job at Bayern Munich.
Louis van Gaal had earlier dropped Butt and replaced him with reserve team goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Kraft-c34971. The Dutchman’s decision made a few heads turn as Kraft had very little first team experience. It was the youngster’s mistake that led to a 1-1 draw with FC
Nuremberg, which eventually got the Dutchman sacked.
Butt revealed that he had a discussion with the manager but the Dutchman had already made up his mind. The goalkeeper said that he had his reservations on van Gaal’s point of view but there was no influence on him.
“I could not understand the decision because I had played one and a half years at a high level and won titles with the club,” said Butt. “I had a long talk with Van Gaal (in January). It was never about convincing Van Gaal to change his mind because he was
already convinced of what he was doing. But I told him my opinion and my reservations.”
The former Bayer 04 Leverkusen shot stopper added that the tactician took a huge gamble by putting Kraft between the sticks. He stated that Bayern Munich is one of the biggest clubs in the world and a goalkeeper from the third division could never have handled
the pressure.
“Especially when you are only 21. We are not a feeder club and when you are goalkeeper here, you cannot afford to make a single mistake. Neither I nor http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international

Hans-Jorg Butt has made a total of 82 appearances for the Bavarians in three seasons after joining from Portuguese giants Benfica in the summer of 2008.
