Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer pleased with win against Schalke- Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has stated that he is pleased with his side’s win against former club Schalke in the weekend’s Bundesliga fixture. He praised the Bayern defence and insisted that the back four was rock solid
throughout the course of 90 minutes and did not allow any chances whatsoever to the opposition.
Bayern downed Schalke in this weekend’s most awaited fixture at the Veltins-Arena 2-0 as the match was dominated by the visitors and the home side failed to score. The clash was also of huge significance as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 faced his
former club for the first time since his multi-million move to Munich in this summer’s transfer window.
Die Bayern are leading the Bundesliga table with 15 points from six games and have won five times in the league this season.
Neuer has expressed his delight on the win and admitted that the home side was close to scoring in the first-half with two very good chances but apart from that the defenders performed brilliantly to make sure Bayern returned with
all three points in the end.
The shot stopper hailed his side’s defence which has conceded only one goal this season and is confident that the team will fight for major title honours if they continue to perform like this.
“I’m delighted we’ve won. Schalke came very close twice in the first half, they were a shade unlucky there. But we were very good in defence again today. We were rock solid, and that’s very important,” he was quoted as saying in
an interview.
The German international admitted that he has not done much between the sticks this season as the team is very strong defensively whereas last season he had a lot to do with Schalke. The player admitted that he would have to adapt
to the new club’s tactics.
“I certainly had more to do when I played for Schalke last season. I’ve had to adapt my game, but you get used to it,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will next host Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, September 25.
