The Bavarian manager has showered praise on the talented midfielder and has compared him to German legends Wolfgang Overath and Gunter Netzer.
Heynckes has praised Kroos for his untiring efforts on the pitch this season and he believes that the German has played a vital role in the club’s top position in the league standings thus far.
Die Roten boss was talking ahead of his team’s upcoming game against FC Koln at the Allianz Arena on Friday, December 16. This will also be the last game for both teams before they go into an almost month-long winter break.
The manager reckons that Kroos has been in phenomenal form this season and his efforts could help Bayern to win back their Bundesliga crown. Bayern are currently leading the league standings with 34 points and are three points
clear of the current German Champions, Borussia Dortmund.
The Bavarians have also progressed to the next round of the UEFA Champions League, and Kroos has been tipped to play a major role in maintaining Bayern’s dominance at the European stage too.
Heynckes opined that the midfielder has gradually grown in stature and his absence at any stage of the competition, may it be the Bundesliga or the Champions League, might prove fatal for the Bavarian giants.
While talking during the pre-match press conference, the former Werkself manager further enthused:
"I have seen his unlimited potential. At the moment, I see http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 as further developed than Wolfgang Overath and Gunter Netzer at the same age.
Kroos has appeared in 15 league games this season thus far but he is yet to open his account. Having re-joined the Allianz-Arena outfit in 2010 after spending a year on-loan with Leverkusen, the attacker has finished 42 league
games in all competitions and has bagged just one goal during the process.
When asked about the possible return date of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374 from injury, the manager told that the midfielder will return to action next year. He lamented the midfielder’s loss in November during a Champions League game
against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 which hampered Bayern’s progress in the Bundesliga.
"I would have liked to have him available [in the last two matches of 2011]. Bastian is very disappointed about this, too." He concluded.
Bayern have lost one Champions League and two Bundesliga games since Schweinsteiger’s injury last month.
