Bayern Munich manager has blasted Schalke fans for the hostile reception in the recent Bundesliga clash played at Veltins-Arena on Sunday. He claimed that the player deserved better and the protests were way beyond the belt.
Die Bayern downed the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues in the fixture 2-0 with Nils Petersen and Thomas Muller scoring for the visitors and claimed all three points. The highlight of the match was however the hostile reception from the Schalke fans
for former player Manuel Neuer.
Heynckes claimed that the player did not deserve the treatment he got from the Die Knappen fans. He insisted that the fans should have respected Neuer’s decision to move to Bayern Munich and accepted it.
The former Bayer Leverkusen tactician added that the protests were beyond the belt and were very insulting. Schalke fans held banners which read that Manuel Neuer lacks character and made the move for money. The manager claimed
that the goalkeeper has a brilliant personality and is a wonderful person.
“Manuel Neuer did not deserve to get treated in that way. Several of those protests were crude and went really blue, beyond the belt. You cannot say he is lacking character. Manuel Neuer is a wonderful person,” the manager was
quoted as saying in an interview.
Manuel Neuer had earlier admitted that he did not expect a warm reception from his former club fans. He added that Die Knappen supporters are very emotional and he had already prepared himself for the hostile reception.
However, he stated that he is happy that Bayern won the match and was delighted with the start to the season this term.
“I did know I would not be getting a very warm welcome. The supporters of Schalke are very emotional. I knew that. I had got myself prepared for this. Winning the match was of the utmost importance to me. I don't care if some people
are feeling offended because of that,” the German international claimed.
Bayern Munich have a tough test ahead against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday in the Bundesliga.
