Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes reconsidering his retirement plans - Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has revealed his intentions of continuing as the Bayern manager beyond 2013. He was talking ahead of his club’s game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 on Saturday.
Heynckes’ managerial stint is set to expire in 2013 but the veteran wishes to prolong his career. The 66-year-old reckons that his love for football won’t allow him to retire from his duties. The manager also wishes to lead the Bavarian giants to the Bundesliga
title this season.
Heynckes is currently into his third spell as manager at Allianz Arena, previously managing the club from 1987-1991 and then in 2009. The former striker earlier announced his retirement plans after honouring his deal until 2013. Heynckes now has decided
to rethink his decision. The former Borussia Monchengladbach tactician added that he will surely carry on his services if Bayern are to win this season’s Bundesliga.
Heynckes was also confident about his team’s chances in this season’s UEFA Champions League. He was relieved after his side overcame FC Zurich to progress through to the group stages of the competition. Bayern Munich emerged as 1-0 winners away from home
in the second leg, having earlier defeated the Swiss opposition in the first leg by a 2-0 margin.
While talking to the local news paper, the manager enthused, "I should be ending my career in 2013, but who knows how much [the game] will still tingle then? Now I want to win something, then the next one I'll try winning again. And afterwards we will look
and see what happens."
As a manager, Heynckes has led Munich to two Bundesliga titles (1988-1989, 1989-1990). He also has two DFL-Supercup titles to his name (1987, 1989). The veteran also led Real Madrid to a UEFA Champions League title (1997-1998) along with a Spanish Supercup
(1997). The manager also served Schalke for one year and led the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues to two Intertoto Cup titles (2003 & 2004).
