Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes rues missed opportunities against FC Zurich- UCL News
Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes rued missed opportunities in the UEFA Champions League qualifier clash against FC Zurich on Wednesday. He stated that the players had innumerable chances to score and admitted that the margin
for the win could have been greater.
Bayern defeated Zurich 2-0 on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena in the first-leg of the Champions League play-off. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 were amongst the goals as the Bavarians set up a convincing lead ahead of the
second-leg in Zurich next week.
Heynckes insisted that it was an important game for the team as playing in the Champions League is the club’s utmost priority this season. He admitted that there were ample opportunities to score for his side but the failure to
convert the chances left the manager disappointed at the end.
However, the former Bayer Leverkusen tactician was satisfied with the result and claimed that the margin could just be enough for the team to go through to the group stages. He warned his side of complacency in the return leg and
admitted that the team has to play on its full potential as anything is possible.
“The team knew that this was an important game for us. We played well in the first 20 minutes and had good chances to score. We dominated in the second half, and had to convert our opportunities. Against such team you have to set
the tempo,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Meanwhile, goal scorer Arjen Robben insisted that the result was a good one and remained confident to progress further in the competition. He urged his side to play with more pace and with a little bit more aggression so that a
convincing victory is achieved.
“The result is decent, but we have to be a lot more focused, play with more aggression and above all faster,” the Dutch international claimed.
Bayern Munich will travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016 for the second-leg next week and will face the hosts FC Zurich at Letzigrund to determine which side will progress.
