Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes rules out another big money signing- Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has ruled out another big money signing in this summer’s transfer window. He claimed that the club has great squad depth and insisted that Bayern will overpay for a striker this summer. However,
the tactician admitted that there is need for a striker as Mario Gomez is the only experienced player in that position currently.
Bayern chiefs have been pondering for a possible buy of a striker and have also admitted that it is definitely a need. But they have also insisted that there will not pay astronomical amounts for the acquisition. The club has been
linked to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 in the past few weeks.
Heynckes insisted that if the club signs an attacker, he will be a world-class player. But was unsure because of the time left and the cost it will take to acquire them this summer. He played down rumours of Bayern signing Carlos
Tevez from Manchester City as he will cost around 45 million Euros.
“If we decide to sign a striker, we're going after a top class attacker. But who is available at the moment? Someone like [Manchester City's http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030] Aguero would be a good signing, but he cost €40m. [Carlos] Tevez also costs €45m,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayer Leverkusen manager admitted that he would love to have a player like Carlos Tevez in the squad as these are the kinds of players that make a difference but further added that the club will surely not pay a hefty
price for them.
“Those are the kinds of players who would make us stronger. The players who I want are not available right now. We're not paying a transfer fee of €40m for a new striker,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich saw the departure of star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 this summer and acquired Nils Petersen as a potential replacement for Energie Cottbus. Petersen still has to gain experience at the highest level
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivica-Olic-c17399 has suffered a hip injury which will keep him out for at least eight weeks.
