Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes targets a successful campaign in the Champions League
Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes targets a successful campaign in this year’s UEFA Champions League. The tactician is aiming for a win against Spanish side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Villarreal-CF-c40899 this week and wants to qualify for the next round as the
group leaders. He admitted that the defeat to Dortmund at the weekend has made the side determined for good results.
Die Bayern will face the Yellow Submarine in a Group-A clash at the Allianz Arena and will be looking to secure their fourth win of the campaign against the Spanish club. The Bavarian giants are leading the group with 10 points
from the four games played and after wins against Villarreal, Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003.
Heynckes claimed that the club is ambitious to go far in the competition and the performances have shown that the side definitely has the quality to beat any team in Europe. He insisted that the team has recovered from the faltered
display against Borussia Dortmund at home and will be playing to win.
“We have big ambitions in the Champions League. It's good that on Tuesday we have our next encounter. I think we have digested the defeat to Dortmund and I am confident that we can defend our leading position in the group,” he
was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayer Leverkusen manager is wary of the threat the Spanish outfit can cause and stated that the team will have to be at their best to get the better of the opposition at their home. He added that Villarreal’s defence
will be on their toes and his side will have to be creative to find the net and have to show the character to get all three points in the end.
“[Villarreal are a] top team in Spanish football and we will face very well-organised opponents, who will play with two rows of four in defence,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich are so far unbeaten in the competition and have won three and drawn one of the four matches played. They will have one match left in the group stage after the clash against Villarreal and that will be against cash-rich
Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
