Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery has insisted that he is a team player and all the hard work he does is for the team. The player claimed that he plays according to the situation in the match considering when to move back
to defend and when to move forward.
Bayern Munich have overhauled the squad this summer with some big money signings including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424, Nils Petersen and Rafinha. Ribery suffered injury problems last season and missed some part of the campaign with an ankle
injury.
The French international revealed that he is working hard to achieve fitness before the next season starts and wants to perform at his full potential. The player added that he always plays as a team and wants to coordinate well
with the teammates so that the team does well.
“All the work I do is for the team. If I have to go back and defend, I'll go back. If I have to attack, I go forward and attack. I'm never playing just for myself, I play for my team,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Olympique Marseille midfielder stated that his stats from last season are proof that he has performed to his potential and is a team player. The Frenchman accumulated a career high 21 assists last season and scored 11
goals.
“I don't score many goals, but I do lay on a lot of goals,” the winger continued.
The 28-year old’s remarks came after manager Jupp Heynckes stated that Ribery has to step up in training and that he cannot be given all the attention.
“In today's football, the team needs to function as one, particularly defensively. Franck Ribery must be integrated into that like any other player,” the manager was quoted.
Franck Ribery played only 25 Bundesliga appearances in the season ended and scored seven times with 17 assists to his name. He suffered an ankle injury in September last year against Hoffenheim which kept him out for two months
from the game.
