Bayern Munich most successful football club in Germany home of Philipp Lahm and Muller
Bayern Munich are the most successful football club in Germany, with 22 League titles and 15 German Cups. The Club was established in 1900 and are based in Munich, Bavaria. The Club won their first league title in 1932 but had arguably their most successful era under the German legend, Franz Beckenbauer, when they won, a record, 3 European titles in a row. The Club has dominated German football in recent history and has produced and nurtured some of the finest German players in the history of German football. Bayern is Germany's biggest club, in terms of the number of fans too, both in Germany and over the globe.
The Bayern Munich stadium, Allianz Arena, is one of the most recognizable football stadiums in the world. It is the only stadium in the world that completely changes its colours. Bayern share the stadium with TSV 1860 Munchen and the colour of the stadium reflects the colours of the team playing their home game. When Bayern plays, the whole stadium turns red. Apart from its magnificent exterior, the stadium has one of the best ambiance in European football, can host 66,000 fans and its shape makes watching the match in the stadium one of the best experiences in terms of football. Bayern are one of three football clubs in Munich and have a very bitter rivalry with TSV 1860 Munchen.
Bayern is currently coached by Louis Van Gaal, an experienced Dutchman who has managed clubs like Barcelona, Ajax and the Dutch National team. The current team captain is also a Dutchman, the midfielder Mark Van Bommel, who has been with the club since 2006, when he joined them from Barcelona. In fact, the Club has a very interesting mix of German and Dutch players which has helped them regain the Bundesliga title, the German Cup and a place in the final of the UEFA Champions League after a few disappointing seasons. Along with the Dutch coach and captain, winger Arjen Robben is the other Dutchman at the club. Robben was highly influential for Bayern in their run in the Champions League, scoring a number of fantastic goals when the team needed them. His volley against Manchester United, in particular, was magnificent. Robben was the best player at the club last year and will be looking to continue his form after the World Cup.
There are also a number of German internationals in the team including Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller, Toni Kroos and Mario Gomez to name a few. It is no wonder that Bayern were among the best club sides in Europe last season when the World Cup emphasizes that the Dutch and the Germans are amongst the strongest sides in the world right now. A Final clash between the Netherlands and Germany will be very interesting since the most important players on either side are very familiar with each other. Whatever happens though, it is clear that Bayern have a very bright future ahead of them and they will be looking to go one step further next season, and become European Champions for the 5th time.
