Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has played down any rumours of signing a new striker in this summer’s transfer window. He claimed that his current squad has the depth to cope with the problem and remained confident that injured

Heynckes claimed that he is in agreement with the club board and the Sporting Director Christian Nerlinger of continuing with the same squad for the season and not making any new additions. He added that the team has a lot of quality
and the likes of Thomas Muller and Nils Petersen can prove handy if Mario Gomez suffers any injury.
“All of us - board, sporting director, and coach - are confident that our current team can reach our targets this season,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach player insisted that he is confident that the current squad has the capability and the quality to fight for the honours this season and is hopeful that no injuries come their way in the near
future with Ivica Olic already on the sidelines with a hip injury.
“I have confidence in our existing squad of players. In addition, our medical department is confident that Ivica Olic will return from his injury and soon be with the team,” the former Bayer Leverkusen manager concluded.
Bayern Munich are currently third on the Bundesliga standings table with six points from three games, winning two and losing one. The club has also qualified for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League after defeating FC
Zurich in the qualifying play-offs with a 3-0 aggregate.
