Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness rules out winter transfers - Bundesliga News
Bayern Munich president, Uli HoeneB, has clearly ruled out winter transfers this season despite being strongly linked with the acquisition of Marco Reus and Papiss Demba Cisse. He urged the available players to perform according to their potential in order
to accomplish the goals set.
Hoeness was talking after reports linked Freiburg striker, Papiss Demba Cisse, with the Bavarian giants. It was reported that the Senegal international might be on his way out during the upcoming January transfer window.
However, the president has shrugged off such rumours as any new strikers would only give a selection dilemma to the manager, Jupp Heynckes. He believes that Bayern are already blessed with quality players and it would be unnecessary to include any new faces
from January onwards.
The president admitted to the club’s striking woes but urged the manager to make Nils Petersen play alongside Mario Gomez in order to provide him with experience for the future.
While talking to Sky Sports News, the 59-year-old further mentioned:
"To get players to solve the problem is not a solution. Those we have must play to their potential. And then we will have no need for new players. For us to think about it again at the end of the season is something else."
Hoeness, though, told that the club officials might reconsider their decision at the end of this term but no winter signings are to be made.
He admitted to the club’s interest in both Cisse and Reus but preferred staying quiet on their possible arrival during the summer. He added that the club are certainly considering making a move for one of the strikers next summer in order to have a back-up
for Gomez, who currently is the only striker that can be relied upon.
Despite Olic’s comeback from injury, the Croatian has consistently been confined to the bench, casting doubts on the striker’s future at the club.
If the trend continues, Bayern would definitely acquire a striker at the end of current season or possibly go for both, Reus and Cisse, in order to further strengthen their attack.
