Bayern Munich refute claims of Hodgson criticism

The German club has denied reports claiming that they have been critical of Roy Hodgson’s appointment as the new England manager.
Bayern Munich have been criticised recently in the English media for Jupp Heynckes comments on manager Roy Hodgson in a press conference. Heynckes commented that the German Football Association would never have delayed to appoint the national team manager and the decision would have been taken right after the departure of the current boss.
The Munich based outfit issued a statement on their website and claimed that the manager’s comments were taken in the wrong context. The club claimed that they have huge respect for the former West Bromwich Albion manager and the side would never criticise any such decision.
Bayern congratulated the English Football Association and Hodgson on his appointment as the Three Lion’s boss.
“We are surprised by the reports relating to Roy Hodgson in the English media and would like to clarify the situation. We have a high regard for Mr Hodgson and, like our sporting federation the DFB, would like to congratulate him on his appointment as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager,” the statement read.
The Bavarian giants further clarified the situation and insisted that Hodgson is a well known figure in Germany, refuting claims from the English media that many Bayern players have insisted that they do not know the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager.
Bayern insisted that they have not criticized any official in the process and none of their players have questioned the decision.
“As a coach and manager Mr Hodgson is of course very well known in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and it should be made clear they have nothing but respect for Mr Hodgson and his record. In no way did they or anyone at Bayern Munich question, or criticise his appointment,” it concluded.
Roy Hodgson was named the English boss earlier this week. The decision came as a shock to many as Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was expected to be named ahead of him.
