Bayern Munich set to poach Juventus’ Edin Dzeko deal
According to the latest media reports coming out of England, Bayern Munich has joined the race to sign Wolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko.
Speculations in the English press suggest that Bavarian giants are ready to offload Mario Gomez to Barclays Premier League outfit Liverpool FC as early as January. The revenue generated from such a sale will go a long way in financing a move for the highly
rated Bosnian.
Edin Dzeko has been hot property ever since he had a breakout season in 2008/09. The player managed 26 league goals in 32 appearances in that campaign and has scored a further 27 league goals ever since. Italian sides AC Milan and Juventus FC were hot on
the trail of the Bosnian but a 40 million price tag on the striker proved too much for cash starved Italian outfits. Following Milan’s signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Juve were thought to be the favourites for his signature. Italian media went as far as suggesting
that Bianconeri directors had already agreed on pre contractual terms with the club.
The latest turn of events, which sees Die Roten join the race, will surely inflate the price tag for the player. Bayern are unhappy with the form shown by Mario Gomez ever since he moved to Munich from VfB Stuttgart for a reported 35 million Euros. Gomez
has just managed a measly 13 goals in 37 appearances and such poor statistics have forced Louis Van Gaal to look elsewhere for goals.
Competition for the forward’s signature is cutthroat as Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the services of the 24 year old prodigy. However, Dzeko has recently revealed that he would prefer a move to Serie A over premier league.
Such comments will keep the Bianconeri hierarchy interested until a move materialises.
Juventus is in desperate need of a striker as Vicenzo Iaquinta and Amauri aren’t getting any younger and their frequent injuries are a deep worry for Luigi Del Neri. Even though the Turin giants are the favourites for Dezko’s signature, Bayern are reportedly
offering 46 million Euros for the striker; an offer too good to refuse surely.
The most recent turn of events will surely make the January transfer market more interesting as Bayern and Juventus will lock horns for the services of coveted Bosnian.
