The Bayern Munich manager reckons that the Reds should have pressed hard for a winner against Hamburg on Saturday.
Jupp Heynckes believes that Bayern Munich were below par in the game against Hamburg which pushed them down to the second place on the table. The Reds find themselves two points short of the current leaders, Borussia Dortmund,
who emerged victorious in their game against Nuremberg on Friday, February 03, at the easyCredit-Stadion.
Bayern made a trip to Hamburg on Saturday, February 04, where they managed to secure a point at the Imtech Arena. The Red Shorts went into the lead in the 23rd minute through Jacopo Sala before http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivica-Olic-c17399 helped Bayern
secure a point with his strike on the 71st minute mark.
Heynckes admitted that the Bavarian Giants are currently lacking in confidence, which is not a positive sign from the club’s perspective. He expressed his delight at Bayern’s determination after going a goal down inside the first
25 minutes, and also praised opposition goalkeeper, Jaroslav Drobny, on making some fine saves during the second period.
The manager, at the same time, urged his players to step up and improve as there are some important games in the Bundesliga, German Cup and the UEFA Champions League coming up.
While talking during the post-match press conference, the former Werkself tactician further added:
"I'm satisfied with my players' determination, attitude and concentration, but we came here to win. That's what we demand as a team. We had to work really hard after going a goal down. (Jaroslav) Drobny made a few good saves."
The manager insisted that the Reds were far better during the second-half, when his team had most of the ball possession. However, he opined that his side must have pressed harder after equalising in order to achieve all the three
points from their trip.
"We deserved the equaliser, but we should have applied more pressure after that, but we're finding that hard at the moment. On the one hand we were hurried, on the other the final pass went astray. We're a little short of confidence,"
Heynckes concluded.
Bayern will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 on Wednesday, February 8 in a DFB-Pokal game before taking on FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday, February 11, in the Bundesliga.
