Bayern Munich skipper Philipp Lahm not surprised by departure of Louis van Gaal – Bundesliga news
Bayern Munich skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929 is not surprised with the departure of Louis van Gaal as a manager of the club at the end of the ongoing 2010-11 season.
Lahm has made it clear that no manager can stay at the club without providing any success. The German champions have not won a single trophy in the season and have also been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after suffering a heartbreak defeat the
hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan in the round of 16.
“That is the way things are when you are at Bayern - if you are not successful, then you have to face the consequences and I think that is absolutely right. Bayern have the aim to be the number one all the time and always win titles. If that does not happen,
then questions are asked of everything and that is what has happened this season,” Lahm said.
Lahm also backed the new manager Jupp Heynckes, who will take charge of the club in the 2011-12 season. The 27-year-old is eager to work under the new manager and termed him as the ideal man to take over the job.
Heynckes has managed Bayern Munich twice before and Lahm believes that he knows everything about the club and has good relationship with the management.
The 65-year-old was appointed as a caretaker manager in 2009 when Jurgen Klinsmann was sacked. Lahm said that the players enjoyed working in his short stint and he delivered good results by winning four of the five games and drawing the other.
Bayern are currently placed fourth on the German Bundesliga table, 14 points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund. Their qualification for the Champions League for the next season is also in doubt, as they have to finish third to qualify for the competition.
The team which was in contention of winning the treble last year might end up winning nothing in the ongoing season.
Lahm is confident that Heynckes managing Bayern will be a huge success and it will bring titles to the club.
