Bayern Munich to sign Manuel Neuer on a four-year deal
According to reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have agreed terms with Schalke 04 goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, on a deal that will be finalised by the end of the 2010/11 campaign.
Widespread reports in Munich suggest that Bayern Munich are edging ever closer to signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 from arch-rivals Schalke 04. Speculations suggest that the German International has now agreed personal terms with the player who has been heavily linked
with a move to the German giants. It is now becoming more and more certain that Manuel Neuer will become the first-choice goalkeeper at the Allianz Arena.
Last weekend, Neuer announced that he had already made a decision regarding his future and since then, rumours regarding Neuer’s future have spread thick and fast. If the rumours are to be believed, the German International has agreed to sign a four-year
deal with the Bavarian giants. With the personal terms already settled, only transfer fee needs to be agreed upon by the clubs for the transfer to go through.
German media suggests that a fee in the region of 18 to 20 million Euros might be enough for Schalke to let go of their prized asset. Schalke are heavily in debt and letting go of Neuer will go a long way towards balancing their books. Neuer’s contract with
Schalke would expire in the summer of 2012. Rather than losing the player on a Bosman move (free transfer), the club is looking to make a profit in the upcoming transfer window.
Last summer, Bayern Munich were keen on signing the player but an offer was refused by Schalke. Neuer also refused a contract extension a few months earlier, effectively sealing an exit from the club.
Bayern Munich are far from pleased with the rumours regarding Neuer’s arrival at the club, as Schalke and Munich share a historical rivalry. However, club president Karl Hans Rummenigge desperately wants the goalkeeper at Allianz Arena. While a deal between
the two clubs remains to be finalised, one can be sure that it would be a controversial move, one that Bayern Munich fans will find hard to digest.
