The Bavarian giants have already secured a double, comprising of the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. The team is now aiming for the glorious treble when they take on the Swabians in the final.
Robben secured the Champions League title for his team when he scored a late winner in the final against Borussia Dortmund this past weekend. The Dutchman is hopeful that his side can achieve the feat of winning the treble, a feat which has not been achieved by any German team in the past.
“This is obviously a special game, and of course we now also want the treble as it is something no other German team has managed. VfB have made their way to the final, and they are also a strong team. On Saturday we have to give everything. I have always believed in myself and have always done everything possible to be in shape. But, I ultimately don’t care who scores the goals if we win,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the club’s sporting director Matthias Sammer stated that he wants his club to write their name in history books by winning the German Cup. The former player added that Bayern will not get opportunities like this again in the future and the players will have to make sure they take their chances.
“We have to understand if we win, we will make history. It’s an opportunity we have to grab with both hands,” Sammer concluded.
This will be Bayern Munich’s 16th DFB-Pokal title if they win against Stuttgart this Saturday whereas the Swabians will claim their fourth German Cup title if they manage to defeat the European champions.
