Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has expressed his desire to win the UEFA Champions League with his current club in the next season. The player admitted that it was a dismal season last term but remained confident that the team
is prepared for a strong comeback in the upcoming campaign.
Arjen Robben had an injury plagued last season with the Bavarian outfit. The player missed the first-half of the campaign with a hamstring injury and returned to action in January against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 at the Volkswagen Arena.
Robben claimed that he still has one objective which is to win Europe’s premier club competition and is confident that the squad is strong enough to achieve that feat. He remains hopeful that Die Bayern do well in Europe and are
able to lift the trophy after losing in the final a year back.
“I still have one big goal: I want to win the Champions League. With (our) strength, the future looks very good. I am confident that we can do it with Bayern,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The Dutch international rued the team’s performances last season and stated that a team like Bayern should be at the top and the displays like last season are not acceptable.
The winger also reiterated his desire to end his career with the German giants and insisted that he is happy at the Allianz Arena. He added that he will definitely honour his current contract which ends in the summer of 2013.
“It shouldn't happen to us, but we must be amongst the leaders from the beginning. I feel very well (here). The conditions are really great for me,” he continued.
Arjen Robben made only 17 appearances for Die Bayern last season but scored an impressive 13 goals in the process. The Dutchman was influential in the 2009-10 campaign when he scored a staggering 23 goals leading Bayern to a domestic
double and reaching the final of the Champions League.
