Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has expressed concern over his long standing public bone injury. He confirmed about its worsening nature and hoped to recover at the earliest.
The injury has prevented Robben from featuring regularly this season, which is a cause for concern for both the player and the manager.
The winger was talking after Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Hoffenheim at Rhein-Neckar-Arena, which brought Bayern’s winning run to a halt. Robben came on at the start of the second half in place of fellow winger, Franck Ribery.
The Dutchman, though, failed to create an impact despite enjoying healthy ball possession. Robben was seen limping during the closing stages of the match and is now a serious doubt for Netherland’s upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.
The 27-year-old is a part of the Dutch squad but it is not yet confirmed whether the head coach, Bert van Marwijk, will include the experienced player against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015.
For his part, the former Real Madrid player has vowed to take part in both the upcoming games but is deeply concerned with the career threatening injury.
While talking to local a newspaper regarding his injury, the player further added, “I am worried. It is definitely not good and it is annoying that I do not know where I stand. It is a complicated injury. There is no one who can say exactly what you can
do [to fix it]. I would rather have a torn muscle - at least then I would know that after six weeks I would be fit again."
Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes also showed concern over the winger’s agony and urged the medical staff to concentrate harder on the player’s fitness. He also hoped to see Robben back to full fitness for future assignments, especially for the important Champions
League games.
Since the Hamburg game on August 20, Robben has not started any game for Die Roten, and only made two late second half appearances against Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City.
It remains to be seen whether the Dutch international will be passed fit for his country’s international fixtures.
