Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben demands more match time to regain full fitness - Bundesliga News
Having made his comeback on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich winger, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521, has demanded more match time to regain full fitness. He also showed displeasure at his team’s shocking loss at home to the reigning German champions.
Dortmund travelled away to Allianz-Arena on Saturday, November 19, and registered their second successive win over Bayern at the same venue. The Borussians emerged 3-1 winners the last time they visited the venue, and went on to win the Bundesliga.
It was Mario Gotze’s solitary goal which proved fatal for the Reds this time around, leaving them just two points adrift of Jupp Heynckes’ men.
Robben has spent the last couple of months on the sidelines due to recurring injuries and only returned against Borussia Dortmund on the weekend. Unfortunately, the winger couldn't make any impact and was on the losing side.
The Dutch international showed delight at his comeback and was pleased to last 72 minutes. He, though, demanded more playing time from his manager in order to regain full fitness and make inroads in future assignments.
When asked about Saturday’s loss to Dortmund, Robben opined that his team lacked attacking instincts, which lead to their own downfall. He was of the view that had Bayern made early progress, the visitors could have collapsed under pressure.
While talking to the club’s official website, the Dutchman further stated:
"It was good to be back out on the pitch. I need my rhythm, I need matches to get fit and recover my form. I need a little more time. It wasn't just a kick-around to get started again. It was a game of a very high standard, and it's very different compared
to training. I'm happy that I managed 70 minutes.”
He also enthused, "After such a long injury lay-off, you'd normally start from the bench. But the coach asked me on Friday if I'd like to start. So I said: Let's do it."
The Black Yellows have moved to just two points from the current leaders with Saturday’s victory and will next be in action against Schalke on Saturday, November 26.
