The FC Hollywood chief executive is aware of the potential hazards that the club will tackle in the forthcoming campaign, and maintains that their utmost priority is to challenge for the Bundesliga title.
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wants the Bavarians giants to end their trophy drought of two years, and expects Die Roten to win their 23rd national title in the league’s golden anniversary.
Der FCB is the most successful German club with a record number of league and German cup titles, but this domination is under threat as Borussia Dortmund won the league twice in the last two years and will be looking to add a third
straight Bundesliga crown to their trophy cabinet.
The CEO claimed that other clubs will be under stress to do well in the coming season, and added that Die Bayern are confident ahead of the new campaign unlike their rivals. He said that the clubs fighting for the major honour
will be determined after some time during the season.
"We know that you can never predict what is going to happen in the first game, and that it'll be a few weeks before we know who is challenging for the title,” he added.
The top official suggested that Bayern have a great squad along with a veteran manager, and the team spirit is amazing. They also appointed Matthias Sammer as their sporting director, and that will be a major asset for the club.
"We have a good team, and experienced coach and the confidence at the club is good. We have a new sporting director [Matthias Sammer], who has great enthusiasm for the club," he mused.
The former Bayern Munich forward announced that his side’s ambition is to win the league title in the landmark year. He further added that the rivalry for major honours will continue between the two clubs for years to come.
"The desire to win more titles is enormous at Bayern, but we know that Dortmund share our aims. It seems that a battle between the giants is going to develop, and continue, over the next few years," he concluded.
Bayern will give a tough competition to the BVB as they have signed quality players over the summer.
