Bayern Munich have stressed that club president Uli Hoeness will stay in office even though he is being investigated for tax fraud by the German authorities. The former legend was questioned on tax evasion at the start of the year
but nothing came out of it.
However, he offered to leave his post but Der FCB were not willing to part ways with him as nothing has been proved until now. The club officials of the Bundesliga winners met and discussed the tax case regarding the president.
He told that he would step down until the German officials have cleared him off the charge.
On the other hand, the club icon is sad over the incident and apologised to the club and fans. He has been retained in favour of the club as they need to concentrate on achieving their dream in the UEFA Champions League final on
May 25 at Wembley. The Reds are also in the final of the German cup which is June 1.
As a result of this, the board do not want any negative publicity or distractions as they have two finals coming ahead.
"The supervisory board of Bayern Munich has had a meeting to look at the tax case concerning president Hoeness," he added.
"Hoeness offered the board to resign from his office until the authorities in charge have decided over the possible clearance of a sentence due to his voluntary declaration,” he mused.
"In the interest of Bayern Munich, who should be fully focused on achieving their goals in the Champions League finals on May 25 and in the DFB-Pokal on June 1, the board has decided that Hoeness should keep his post as president,” he was quoted as saying in
an interview.
Moreover, the supervisory board will closely monitor the case and will discuss the issue at the end of the current season, provided that new events come to light as nothing of significance has come to their attention.
