Hey everyone

Which sport is easier to progress in as a coach: basketball or football (American)?

With football I know most teams have a head coach, a coach for each position and on top of that a defensive and offensive coordinator. In basketball there is a head coach, an assistant coach and maybe one or two other assistants (I guess potentially less competition?).

So yeah with all that in mind, which sport do coaches generally progress through quicker? Say going from a high school assistant coach to the head coach of a college team.

Cheers all

  1. FOOTBAL is EASIER to develop the guy above me there are 2 sides of the ball on basketball 2

  2. Without question football coaches take longer to develop. There is 1000 times more to football than any other sport and don't forget, in football there are 2 sides of the ball with 11 different players on each side with 11 different jobs on each individual play and 100's of plays to teach and master not to mention all of the special teams plays with kickers, punters, long snappers, holders, return men etc. So to answer your question... A coach would progress through Basketball much quicker than football. Great question Shevm!
