Bbq smoker?

does any1 know how to smoke food on a bbq, it is a bbq smoker but i dont have any instructions, do you place the soaked wood chipe directly on the charcoal or do you wrap them in foilwith hole in first or is charcoal too hot?

  1. Does it have a separate fire box off to the side?? If so. you should just place the chips on top of the charcoal. I have a barrel type smoker and I use nothing but hickory  and keep it on a low temp..... 180-200 degrees and sloooooooooow cook the product... Remember if your looking it ain't cooking!!!


  2. Ours is an electric smoker. We just put the wood chips (soak a big handful of them in water for 1/2 hour first) on the floor of the smoker, all around but not touching the heating coils. It works well that way. Then you place the bowl of water above that, then the grill with the meat on it above that, then the top on. I'm no expert, but that's how we do it. It takes several hours to smoke the meat, depending on how much meat you put in. Good luck!
