ladies i need help, (using the month of july as an example). i did not ovulate last month. my period was between the 13th and the 18th of july. can anyone tell me when i should have ovulated, and when i got the rise in my temperature the next day, is the rise suppose to be 3 days straight in the same month to indicate that you have ovulated? could anyone send me an example of their bbt to my email and show me the ovulation and the spike in temperature?

  1. It's impossible to tell when you should be ovulating without knowing when your next period is due. Ovulation is always around 14 days before your next period; the time from your last period isn't a reliable indicator. Sorry!!!!

But if you're regular, you should be able to figure that out pretty easily. It can be anywhere between 12 and 16 days from ovulation to AF. I would highly recommend that you chart with fertilityfriend.com, and that way you can look at a bunch of charts and compare them directly with yours. They have this great function where you can overlay one of their 700,000 charts with your own; it's a lot of fun, in a geeky kind of way! You can also compare the different features of charts. So for example, if you want to look for charts by women over 38, or charts for people who have low BBTs, or irregular cycles, or are on certain medications, you simply put that as a search parameter. Cool!

But as you asked to see a chart -- here's one of mine from earlier this year. It's a clear chart which shows the definite ovulation date plus some of the parameters (the P shows progesterone that I was on back then, for example) and yes you need 3 consecutive high temps to indicate ovulation.
