Be aggressive on unhelpful Johannesburg pitch, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Anthony-Donald-c43680 recommends SA bowlers – Cricket News Update
South Africa’s bowling coach, Allan Donald, has hinted towards a hard-line strategy for his bowlers in the second Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, to be played at Johannesburg.
At the moment, the South Africans are 1-0 ahead in the two-Test series, thanks to brilliant display of skills by the pace bowling attack.
It was a dream debut for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vernon-Philander-c2753 who nabbed eight wickets in the game including second innings' five-wicket haul that helped the Proteas smack down Australia for just 47 runs.
Despite the fact that it was a supportive track at Cape Town, the credit cannot be taken away from the South African bowlers for demonstrating an impressive show.
The SA bowlers are currently full of confidence and geared up to crush Aussies once again, but the wicket at the Wanderers for the second Test is expected to behave entirely different from the track in Cape Town.
Hence, Donald has advised his bowlers to adopt an attacking approach and go for the kill on the less friendly 22 yards at Johannesburg.
"We won't see another pitch as friendly as the one at Newlands. At the Wanderers, you have to be spot-on as there's a bit of bounce and carry, and if you're loose, the batsmen can score freely, square off either side of the wicket," Sport24 quoted Donald,
as saying.
"We need to be aggressive in our lengths and hit our areas hard. The bowlers did that particularly well in the second innings at Newlands, but, of course, we will need to make adjustments here," added the former seamer who earlier claimed of jointing his
native side as bowling consult on the request of the present head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527.
The second Test is set to get underway from Thursday, November 17, 2011. While the Kangaroos are likely to make a few changes in their crew for the final clash, the Proteas are expected to go into the battle with the same line-up.
Without a shadow of doubt, the Graeme Smith-led side has a strong bowling department in the presence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Morkel-c73528 – the pace bowling duo that shared 12 wickets in the first Test.
