secretly look forward to Ramadan because they see it as an opportunity to lose weight? I do it for the religious reasons, but I also like the fact I lose weight from it too :)

  2. well not with me. I put weight on every year 1-2 Kg in Ramadaan, lol. It's a blessing in all manners. i'd really like to lose the weight people talk about.

  3. Hi..u might lose weight in the process of fasting but its the only month dedicated to god and i think we can afford to respect tht. God have said its His month so all the deeds r given double the blessings so lets be sincere in doing amal.

For ppl who want to lose weight very well and good u can always go on diet or eat less other 11 months.

One of the advantage of fasting is losing weight i agree but we dont fast for the sake of it..God bless

  8. well i do want to loose weight... but it turns out to be opposite to that...cuz i just jump on food after breaking fast :P

  9. Thats just a bonus.

  10. Actually, Ramadan is pretty bad for weight loss when you think about it.  Muslims are eating when the sun is down and that is when most of the days activity is done (generally speaking).  So it's like eating and being sedentary- perfect scenario for weight gain, if not careful.

  11. Well, I consider it a bonus!!! :>

In fact, according to statistics, muslims tend to put on more weight! And do you know why???? Simple- we no more abide to the sunnah of the prophet(pbuh)....According to the sunnah, one should break his fast with dates and water, and if he cannot find dates, then with water. In fact, dates have many many benefits for the health. By the way, if ever you break your fast with dates and water, and then go to swalaat Maghrib, then come back home, you will notice that you won't eat as much as you would have, HAD you NOT gone to Maghrib prayer! Give it a try!! And you'll see the results..... It is a fact that in Saudi Arabia for example, gymnasium and other fitness centres work great during ramadan, because of people over eating.....

Never forget, Islam cares for both our physical and spiritual needs! Islam is a complete way of life! So, let us make a resolution that inshallah, with the help of Allah, we will do our best to adopt the sunnah of our prophet(pbuh).....Ameen!

    Wassalaam!!

  12. Salaam Sister =]

I'm only telling you this because I love you, honestly.

If a single atoms size of a deed is not done for ALLAH, the entire thing will be rejected.

This is called Riyya. Minor shirk.

You must fast ONLY for the pleasure of Allah and nothing else.

Even if it meant you gain 500lbs.

You wouldn't mind because it is in the pleasure of Allah.

Youtube some lectures about Riyya or Minor Shirk, you'll see what I mean.

You have to work against that and make du'a to purify your intentions and make everything you do purely for Allah, Subhanu.

The du'a for riyya is very simple, and can be of great benefit, not just for fasting, but for other parts of your life where you don't know if you are commiting riyya or not. Because riyya can be so subtle, it's impossible to notice it. But it can bring down mountains of deeds.

Minor shirk (riyya) is a grave issue.

“Minor shirk is more hidden than a black ant on a black stone in the middle of a moonless night.” -Ibn ‘Abbaas

One of the things the Prophet (peace be upon him) feared the MOST for us is riyya.

This is the du'aa to prevent it:

Allahumma innaa na`oothu bika an-nushrika bika shay`an na`lamuhu, wa nastagfiruka limaa laa na`lamu.

O Allah! we seek refuge in You from committing shirk knowingly, and ask your forgiveness for (the shirk that we may commit unknowingly)

May Allah increase us all in Taqwa and Iman.

    Jazzak Allah Kheer sister <333
