  1. if the bride likes them who cares?

  2. In all honesty, without trying to be mean in any way, I would think that maybe someone overspent on the budget and decided to cut costs in the flowers. That said, if you like them, you like them and it's your wedding. They are still flowers and flowers are almost all pretty.... except for those funky purple ones that smell like skunk:)

  3. As long as the bouquet was balanced and looked pretty then I wouldn't really care. I'd go ahead and mix some other in with it, but I think it would be fine.

  4. I'd probably think that was what they could afford.  I would just be happy to see how loved they both are and how happy they are - the flowers aren't the focus!  They make things pretty but too many brides are focused on buying the best even if they can't afford it!  I'd much rather go to a wedding where the bride & groom have stayed realistic about their spending & instead chose to focus on each other rather than one of those huge weddings where you can tell the bride just made it all about the pomp & circumstance rather than their love.

  5. That they're beautiful.  There are a lot of tasteful bouquets made out of carnations:

  6. maybe its a funeral..... thats how i have always thought of carnations.....

  7. I personally like carnations so it wouldnt bother me. Honestly though, I dont remember what the flowers were for ANY wedding I have ever been in or been to (and I have been to a lot of them!) unless they did something really unique like black roses or something in an unusual color. I usually see flowers and think "Oh pretty flowers". Wouldn't bother me a bit. I wouldn't even think about it.

  8. My first gut reaction would be that the bride apparently likes carnations - especially if the color and the arrangement of the bouquet was particularily striking. My second thought might be that she is a down-to-earth, realistic young lady for choosing flowers that wouldn't break the bank.

  9. I hate carnations.

There is no cheaper looking flower.

  10. It depends what the bouquet looks like:

    Okay:

    Don't Like:

Personally, I think Carnations can be put together to look spectacular, and I've seen some dyed to match any color in the rainbow, so getting them to match your wedding colors (like indigo, periwinkle, chianti, teal, royal purple.....) is easy, and looks even better.

When I googled "carnation wedding bouquet" I got more bouquets that I liked and only one I didn't like....

I think, if used correctly, it would be a smart, and beautiful way to save money.... Aren't we all trying to do just that?

  11. If I was being really honest, I would think that the flowers were bought on a budget.

  12. It really shouldn't matter, but I understand why you are asking.  There will definitely be some people who turn their nose up and say "carnations, really?"  However, at the end of the day, this is the bride and groom's day!  Whatever you like, from carnations, to off the wall wedding colors, to overly or underlie sappy love songs.... DO IT WITH YOUR OWN STYLE!

  13. the bride apparently likes carnations

  14. I think that carnations are a wonderful flower, who said you had to have roses (which in my book need to be booted from weddings, overkill!) I don't think that I would notice, I would just see lovely flowers that a full and anyhow... I think everyone would notice just the bride, not the flowers she is carrying and if they do judge who cares! Its your wedding, if its what you want, go get it!!!

  15. Really, carnations?

I think of the s*x and the city episode where Charlotte is horrified that Harry gives her carnations.  I think high school when I think carnations.

They're an ok filler, but not for an entire bouquet.

  16. I don't know why people hate on carnations...it wouldn't really bother me one bit since I happen to really like bouquets of carnations. But I suppose the importnat thing at a wedding isn't really the flowers...

  17. It wouldn't faze me one bit. That is obviously the bride's choice so it shouldn't matter to anyone else. Anyone who goes in and judges the couple's choice of flowers or anything else is attending for all the wrong reasons and is not there to celebrate their union, which is what a wedding is truly all about. I don't like carnations but it's not my place to judge. If that is all you care about, you need to do alot of growing up. And truthfully, most guests never get a clear upclose view of the bride's bouquet anyway.

  18. Honestly, I would just think the bride liked that type of flower, regardless of its traditional meaning. (But personally, I'd never have carnations in a wedding!)

  19. My gut reaction - 'Interesting!'

I have seen all sorts of interesting flowers used for bouquets. I think it really should be the bride's choice on her flower, as long as she's happy with them, who are we to say otherwise?!

  20. i dont think id notice.....i mean id notice flowers but not "OH they are CARNATIONS... *gasp*" :P id see flowers and be like "oOoOo flowwwwers" lol :P no i dont see anything wrong with carnations in a bouquet

  21. Cheap and lazy....first thought.  There are som many other flowers that are beautiful and inexpensive if they are looking for a cheap flower.

  22. I honestly don't know much about flowers, but I do know what carnations look like. I'm not "into" flowers, so I honestly would not notice her bouquet other than the color it was. If I DID notice they were carnations, I'd feel all proud of myself because I actually knew what type of flowers they were. :)

    That's my honest answer!

  23. I think it might catch me by suprise. its not your typical wedding flower. I would probably think that the bride or groom likes them.

  24. I'm honestly not sure I would notice. Unless guests are sitting right on the ends or in the front row, it's hard to see individual flowers in the bouquet.

  25. I like carnations, especially pink ones, so I wouldn't think anything negative about it.  They are low-allergen, so maybe they are trying to not aggravate someone's allergies.  They are also more affordable than most other flowers, so maybe they are trying to save some money on something that's going to be tossed anyway, and put it towards something else more memorable.  Either way, cool with me.
