Be patient with young Nathan Lyon, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170 asks Australia’s national selectors – Cricket News Update
Who can have a better debut than the young Australian off-spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Making a massive impact, he thrilled the whole cricketing fraternity with his class and quality spin bowling. As a result, he has been regarded as Australia’s future superstar.
Yet, the Aussie wicket-keeper batsman, Brad Haddin, feels that Lyon has still a lot to learn, asking the national selectors to be patient with the young lad and give him proper opportunities to bloom his talent
at the highest level.
"I think it's important that we're patient with him. We can't expect all these spinners to come in and be world-beaters. We've just got to make sure we're clear in what we expect from them and what he expects from
himself,” Haddin said while praising Lyon’s magnificent show in the first Test, played at Galle from August 31 to September 3, 2011.
Lyon was a surprise inclusion in the Aussie Test crew since the 23-year-old spinner hasn’t yet played more than half a dozen first-class matches in his career. Some questions were also raised over his selection
but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 cricketer was determined to do well.
Justifying his selection, he not only contributed well to the winning cause but also became the ninth Aussie cricketer to pick up five wickets on debut.
Haddin believes that the young spinner holds everything what is required to become a great Test cricketer but at the same time, he made clear that Lyon will have to keep working hard in a bid to be a world-class
spinner.
"I think Nathan has obviously got something pretty special in him but he's obviously got a bit of work to do on his bowling and he knows that. From keeping to him, he's got similar drift
to what Swann has. I think he's got something there that's going to be pretty good for Australian cricket," added the 33-year-old wicket-keeper.
