Beach Classic in Aalsmeer, Netherlands – Upcoming event
Following the success of first ever indoor beach volleyball tournament in the Dutch city of Aalsmeer at the start of this year, the Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV) has confirmed the next event at the same venue. The second edition of the CEV Beach
Volleyball Satellite Tournament will take place from January 11-15, 2012. The Indoor Sports and Event Centre in Aalsmeer will serve as the host of this whole activity. This time around, the CEV indoor Satellite tournament will feature a Beach Classic on the
opening day of the tournament.
The official competition will take centre stage after the Beach Classic, which will be attended by the pioneers of beach volleyball in Netherlands. This event will be organised especially for the legendary Dutch players of the yesteryears, who borrowed a
tennis arena and staged the beach volleyball action.
Dutch legends, Sander Mulder and Michel Everaert, will be the highlight of the Beach Classic in Aalsmeer. These two players have the honour to represent Netherlands at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta for the first time in Dutch history. They emerged as
the very first beach volleyball players from Netherlands and settled for multiple national championship titles.
Everaert partnered with Bas van Rossem and Mulder at different times. Likewise, Mulder also teamed up with Richard de Kogel for quite some time. Everaert won national title together with Rossem, while Mulder did the same with Kogel in 2002. It would be a
great chance for fans to catch the tandem of Mulder and Everaert once again on the court at Beach Classic Aalsmeer.
Moreover, the pairing of Marko Klok and Michiel van der Kuip will show up at the Beach Classic. They were conventional rivals of Mulder/Everaert in Netherlands. They hold the distinction of winning first gold medal for the Netherlands at a European Championship
in 1995.
Some of the other players such as Ferry van Hal, Jaap Vos, Remco Boonstra, and Arnold van Solkema will also attend the Beach Classic. Van Solkema will also serve as the official speaker at the 2012 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite Tournament.
This is going to be a double pleasure for beach volleyball enthusiasts as they will get to see the game of Oldies and present-day Stars.
