Beach Volleyball Special: Phil Dalhausser becomes the Beach Athlete of the Year in USA
As the year 2010 is coming to an end, the USA Volleyball (USAV) is awarding players for their brilliant work and for bringing good name to country. In the running week, various players got the “Athlete of the year 2010” award. In the women’s volleyball category,
Stacy Sykora was named the Athlete of the Year, while Clay Stanley settled for the same honour in male category. Likewise, USA Volleyball chose the American top ace Phil Dalhausser as Athlete of the Year in Beach Volleyball category. The top-seeded Phil Dalhausser
was paired with Todd Rogers and they proved their mettle against some of the tough teams of the world in 2010 season.
In acknowledgment to his incredible performance Dalhausser has been named the Athlete of the Year. Besides, he has also been nominated for U.S. Olympic Committee SportsMan of the Year 2010. Phil Dalhuasser most deserved this honour as he represented United
States in 86 matches in the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour and clinched success in 75 combats. In addition, the AVP Tour was also dominated by American side. Phil Dalhuasser was part of the duo, which won 34 out of 34 matches in AVP World Tour 2010.
Dalhausser received the title of Most Outstanding Player (MOP) in most of the FIVB competitions in 2010 season. Almost every award ceremony had something to offer to him. He was named MOP in opening tournament of SWATCH FIVB World Tour, the Brasilia Open
in Brazil. Furthermore he settled for Most Outstanding Player’s position in Mazury Orlen Grand Slam, Kristiansand, Norway, Myslowise, Poland. Beside the MOP award, he was also voted for the best hitter, setter, blocker and top offensive player in different
competitions.
His teammate Todd Rogers perfectly complimented him and both of them fought for supremacy. They made a series of triumphs together and earned US$387,700 as prize money. The duo of Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers left everyone behind in the game and set new
records. They established a new record of winning 9 SWATCH FIVB Titles in a single season. Previously, the pairing of Juliana Felisberta and Larissa Franca from Brazil had the record of highest title-wins in the SWATCH FIVB World Tour. They captured 8 titles
in a single season. However, Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers broke their record and climbed up the stairs of fame. They were also named the Best Team of the Year 2010.
