  1. Barcelona, Ibiza, MAllorca!

  2. I really like Nerja on the Costa Del Sol. It is a small town with several small beaches. Very friendly atmosphere with lots of shops and restaurants. Check out http://www.nerjatoday.com/nerjabeaches.h... for a description of some of the beaches.

I also really enjoyed Tarifa. Here you will find world class wind surfing, kite surfing and more. It's fun to wander through the town. Again, fun shops and restaurants and bars. Look at http://www.andalucia.com/tarifa/home.htm

Now, if you want to party you would want to consider Ibiza..

If you want to rub elbows with the jet setters, Marbella.

Check out what Frommer has to say about the topic: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/spa...

  3. There's a place in Malaga called Torremolinos in the south of Spain.  The beach is absolutely amazing.  It has extremely clean, white sand and it is one of the few beaches I've been to with no algae.  There's also an area near Cadiz called Sancti Petri.  It has more tourism, but the beach is also clean and amazing!

  4. Barcelona has great beaches with the added bonus of being a cosmopolitan city with lots of things to see and do.  See the link below for twenty-five great things to see and do in Barcelona, including the beaches.

I also visited Marbella, but the beaches are essentially the same (cleaner water maybe) while the prices are way higher and there is nothing to do except suntan.  Boring!
