Beach for surfing bigginer?

Since I started learning surfing, but my friends who can teach me live in OC. I am looking for the beach for bigginers in LA area, so I can just go by myself and practice without bothering skilled surfers.

Could you recommend specific location for surfing biginner? I am very tiny person and I have hard time to carry heavy surfboard, so I prefer the beach where I can park nearby. If you can tell me the street name where I can park, it's even better.

Also, is there any website where I can find surfing buddy? I want to find someone who just started like me.

Thanks in advance.

  1. I suggest Torrance or Redondo Beaches.  Get yourself to PCH and go west on Torrance Bl or Artesia Bl...both hit the beaches eventually.  So far as a buddy goes...Google it...there must be a site for that somewhere...If not go to the beach and check with the Lifeguard(s) they sometimes know the regulars and can hook you up with someone.  PEACE!

  2. Try Faria beach in Ventura, CA. Good spot for beginners and longboarders. Waves break in shallow water (4 to 5 ft deep) Spot Gets better with more tide, the point can be rocky during low tide so be careful. They do rent surfboards and wetsuits.

  3. Checkout Sunset Beach... it's on PCH just south of Sunset Blvd, (on the south side of Gladstones). Park on PCH and near the lifeguard tower there are stairs down to the beach.

If you need some adorable board shorts or a rash guard to protect your skin or suit checkout http://www.BeachTrading.com

    Good Luck!

  4. CHERRY BEACH, SMALL WAVES AND NOT MANY PEOPLE...
