Hi I have run out of birthday party ideas for my 5 year old daughter and decided on hosting it at the beach with games for the kids and a bbq for the adults. Does anyone have ideas what to do for food that wont get sandy and easily portable? Games? Theme? prizes? I would love some inspiration thanks!

  1. I'd say Beach Party doesn't need a further theme.

Food - Wraps are always good for being portable and clean. I'd suggest cupcakes instead of a full cake.

For adults and children, it's hard to find something for everyone to enjoy. I'd say you're better off setting up beach chairs for adults, and letting the kids play amongst themselves. Maybe have some structured games, sand-castle building, Red Rover (!).

Prizes? Food is always a crowd pleaser. Kids and grown-ups alike would enjoy chocolate, or candy.

I'm not particularily creative tonight, but good luck with your event!

  2. Have lots of chaperones!

  3. That sounds fun! I'm a safety crazy mom, so just remember to have plenty of adults with each child assigned to an adult to specifically watch them by the water (OK, you would anyway, but I had to say my piece).

Food: Anything that can be eaten in the hand. Fruit on a bamboo skewer. If you're grilling on site, you could do make-your own shish kabobs and provide a variety of ingredients: chicken, pork, pineapple, mushrooms, peppers. Cupcakes baked in an ice cream cone (but careful because they're top-heavy).

Game ideas: Build the most creative sand castle, fastest lobster walk to the finish line, three-legged races with kid/adult pairs (tie their legs with handkerchiefs.

Theme: Beach sounds like a good theme already, so maybe nothing further? Or fish, flip flops, swimming could all be themes. Aquatic animals. Mermaids. Nautical. Sailboats.

Prizes: Cheap sunglasses, sand toys, funky flip flops that the birthday girl has decorated herself with flowers or ribbon. Colorful handkerchiefs from three-legged race could be prize. Sunblock lip balm in cute containers or flavors.

    Have fun!

  4. Go back to the fun old days, ..games are fun!...

  5. a luau type theme will be good for both kids and adults. if you have it around sunset you could put up tiki torches. FOOD- when i had my party we served fruit, cupcakes and a lot more finger food. GAMES- we played this game called coconut stomp you put pieces of paper in a balloon(like "walk like a c**p" or " hop on one foot you can change these for different age groups) and  you had to pop the balloon and do what ever was on the pies of paper we also played limbo and volleyball PRIZES- i gave necklaces made from Hawaii ( can find these on the Internet they are like meby $5 )

            hope this helps
