  1. none

    sharks live in the sea

beaches are on the edge of the sea

just dont worry about sharks & stingy things

    worry more about rips

  2. I would say most beaches have a small possibility of sharks ,the safest thing is to swim only at beaches that are patrolled by surf lifesavers and always between the flags.

  3. don't listen to mmdjaajl.

    he is wrong.

I am a surf life saver and there is a chance at EVERY beach that there will be sharks, although some beaches are more prone to them than others. Bear in mind that most QLD beaches are very close to the Great Barrier Reef.

If there are seals or penguins nearby, theres more chance of a shark, although the shark is less likely to be hungry because it will have generally already eaten a seal or penguin.

I patrol at Woolamai on Phillip Island, Vic, where there are both penguins and seals. There have been sightings of sharks up to 7 metres long but I have not ever seen one myself, even though I am often down there.

Also remember that queensland in particular is prone to lots of jellyfish which, when they sting you, can be very painful. Down south we have less of the bad jelly fish.

You will notice at beaches in QLD that they have vinegar on the beaches to put on if you get stung, but this doesn't always work and is not how the surf life savers treat jelly fish stings these days.

If anything does happen though, the life savers are well qualified and will be able to assist you.

The best beaches are down the coast from probably the gold coast down all the way around victoria's coast until you get to about lorne in vic. If however you are definitely moving up north, there isn't much between brisbane and cairns in terms of cities.

even Cairns is a small city. If you want to be near the action stick to Brisbane.

If youre versatile in terms of where you are moving, definitely head down to Sydney or Melbourne. the beachers are far more superior.

Townsville is the only other larger town I would consider, or if you want to go somewhere smaller head down to the WHITSUNDAY ISLANDS.

They are beautiful and the beaches are gorgeous.

Pretty much anywhere you go has a chance of stingrays, jellies or sharks.

But dont worry... I have to swim with 6 metre sharks known to regularly be in the water where I'm swimming... and I've still never seen one myself.

Also remember that if the life savers see a shark close by, and they do keep an eye out for sharks, they will sound an alarm and get everyone out of the water.

  4. Most of the best east coast beaches are actually south of Brisbane all the way through NSW and well into Victoria.

  5. All beaches can have sharks. The main beaches will have shark nets. If your worried about sharks then make sure you stick to a patrolled beach.

Jelly fish are the main problem especially on the northern beaches of Queensland. From around December to February the beaches are covered with them, making it a very undelightful place to swim.

If your interested in surfing the further north you go the less waves there are. For surfing you're best to go to the Gold Coast or further south.
