my fiance and i will be getting married on the beach. my fiance is going to wear light khakis and a light blue button up shirt. tucking in his shirt seems a little formal since we'll be on the beach w/o any shoes. would it look ok without being tucked in if it isn't squared off at the bottom?

  1. Should be ok. I got married in Feb 2008, mine was pretty simple and nice. I had only 1 wedding gown. It was a pastel purple long tube dress, and I paid for almost all the wedding expenses, so my last drawn salary of S$1300 pay(only) as a shipping clerk per month was spent mostly on our wedding, held with the Singapore Hokkien Huey Kuen, on the large framed up picture with a bridal shop(which has shifted), on the 2 sets of wardrobe done, and all other expenses. Total, I think I spent close to S$8,000.

  2. Yes. I would think it might look a little silly tucked in.

The pictures at the website listed below confirm to me that I think it's looks a little silly to have the shirt tucked in. But to each his (and her) own!

Why don't you two check out the photos here?  They show shirts both tucked and untucked.  Then let groom decide which look he prefers.

  4. No, if it isn't squared off, like a Havana shirt, then it should be tucked in.

It will look sloppy if his "shirt tails" are out.

My advice would be to find a nice Havana style shirt to wear instead.

EDIT: the excpetion to the shirt tails thing would be if it was a very loose fitting and light weight shirt.  Maybe, just maybe, it would look okay untucked.

  5. I like the untucked shirt, even if it has tails :) But what does your fiance want to do? Since it's his outfit, I think he should get the final say.

  6. My opinion....

If it is squared off....then it is OK to keep out.  Otherwise, have him tuck it in.  Look at the pictures from beachsidebride that someone else gave you.  I was going to link that, but see that someone already did.  There are a number of wedding parties that have the shirt tucked in, and I don't think it makes it look more formal.  I think it makes it look a lot better than the ones where the shirt is out.

    Just my opinion....

  7. Shirts with a tail should always be tucked in, I'm sure you can find a straight bottom shirt somewhere out there!
