Beacon Heath, Exeter?

I'd like some information on this area. What is it like to live there, crime rate, schools, general safety. Are the open spaces surrounding the estate safe to walk about? Is there a drug problem? I've looked on various local authority sites and at the crime and school ratings but I'd appreciate any comments from people living nearby. Many thanks.

  1. I used to live there about 30 years ago and it was a dump. The council estate, Lancelot Rd was renowned for trouble. I spent my teenage years there.

I imagine its cleaned up a bit since then. Central ave , fox rd  were the nicest places Followed by Chacellors way. Then king Aurthers rd, and then Lancelot rd. There were drugs up there in the 80s. The views from the top of lancelot rd are lovely. you can see all over Exeter down to Dawlish Warren, Exmouth. Dartmoor. That was its saving grace.

  2. Beacon Heath is my favorite part of Exeter. Dont believe all the crime stats. They peoples are alwasy exagerating. This is one of the most upcoming and gentrififying parts of the U.K. and in a few years property prices are going to rise dramatically due to all the young professionals and retirees moving in.
