Beanwah’smachine and Capetown Devil kept their perfect record intact at Fair Grounds
The newly turned 3-year-old colt, Beanwah’smachine was looking for his second win in a row when he was pointed towards the Louisiana Futurity at Fair Grounds race course on 31 December, 2011, over a distance of six furlongs.
He came out of his previous race, the LA Champions Day Juvenile, unscathed, and set the track ablaze as he defeated Masculino in second, and Validfromthegitgo in third, over a distance of six furlongs, also at Fair Grounds race course on 10 December, 2011.
Ridden by jockey S Sellers, Beanwah’smachine took hold of the race in the mid stretch and over hauled his opponents to cover the distance in 1 minute and 11.66 seconds.
In the $103,290 Louisiana Derby, Beanwah’smachine was running for his fourth straight win, and he successfully achieved this target and kept his perfect record intact, with his fourth victory in as many starts on 31 December, 2011, against seven other opponents.
Trained by B. Brinkman and ridden by jockey G Melancon, the son of Southern Image, Gar finished second on the day, followed by C.C. Dubai in third, who was guided by C. McMahon and trained by T. Richey.
Paw Paw Ralph, Second Lion, Bucktown, Spreader and Sworovski completed the order of finish, respectively.
“He appears to have come out of yesterday’s race just fine,” said Pam Fitzgerald, assistant to trainer Al Stall Jr. during training hours Sunday morning.
David M. Carroll trained 3-year-old colt, Capetown Devil also kept his perfect record intact after successfully winning a mile and 70 yard long optional claimer at Fair Grounds race course, under jockey C Lanerie, on 31 December, 2011.
The Kentucky bred son of Cape Town, out of mare Nureyev’s Angel by Nureyev, Capetown Devil outclassed the likes of Gowhereyougaze in second, and Rock Harder in third, while covering the distance in 1 minute and 43.81 seconds.
“David won’t be back until Tuesday,” said Clilverd.
“So I’m not in a position to say what the plans are, but (Capetown Devil) seems well. I thought he looked a little tired right after the race yesterday but he surprised me because he had a little bit of a ‘squeal’ to him when he walked this morning.”
Capetown Devil has come out of the race fine and he might be the possible precursor of the series, leading up to the $100,000 Louisiana Derby on 1 April, 2012.
