Hi everyone, i have a 6" female bearded dragon and i am wondering what items i should use for when she gets to adulthood i am already planning on building my own 4x2x2 viv but i still want to know if the UVB bulb should be changed from a low wattage (for when she was young) to something like a reptisun 10.0 or anything like that, or if a reptisun 5.0 will still be a good uv producer. And one other thing is that i was reading about the reptisun 5.0 and it says 10% uvb and 30% uva, that doesnt sound very good too me, dont they need more uvb and less uva? i dont know... i get confused with this stuff and just want my beardie to be healthy and have good lighting and everything because i know its really important. And just as a side note i have a 12 watt t5 tropical strip light now and i am also wondering if that is too low a wattage for her to get the optimum amount of uv she needs.

Any tips on anything related to heating/UV reccomendation for juvenile or adult bd's would be awsome thx

  1. UVB needs to be ATLEAST 7% UVB. Its better if it will cover the entire cage, however the entire length would be best if your BD doesnt stay at the basking spot most of the day.

Heating bulbs will have to be adjusted, just remember to keep your basking at 100 F and you should be ok. However, I had 75 watt spot bulbs from ZooMed and they were too powerful, so you'll have to pretest this before purchasing (or moving into the new tank).
