Question:

Bearded Dragon food query?

I'm going to give my beardie frozen peas which have been thawed. They are quite cold still but he hasn't had much to eat so I want to give him them ASAP.

Should I wait until they are warm or should I give him them quite cold, as they are now, so he can cool down a bit as he has been in his vivarium all day?

Additional Info: Almost 1 year old, around 35 cm long, male.

  1. as it was said, you want to thaw them out first. the cold peas can drop your beardies body temp and you don't want to do that as it could affect the digestion. thaw them in warm water or a microwave or stove. 2 extra minutes won't hurt your beardie to wait.

  2. Don't you have a microwave?

If not, submerse the peas in very warm water until thoroughly thawed, and pat dry with a paper towel before feeding.

It is never a good idea to feed your reptile anything which isn't brough up to room temperature first.  He can wait a few more minutes!

    Enjoy your beardie.

I hope this has been helpful.

  3. the temperature dosnt matter much i dont think but the peas shouldnt be hard they should be kinda soft.

  4. a beardie shouldn't have peas so don't feed them to him and if you do make sure they are warm and soft and fore like the first week keep a eye on him
