I am getting so confussed with this. My beardie seems to be getting very lazy and unresponsive to what im doing and really just need this clarified.

When people say the hot spot should be 100...is that F or C?

also my thermostat only goes up to 100F...so do i turn it up all the way? and at night do i leave it at that all the time and the beardie will go to the cooler spot itself?

  1. come on, water boils at 100 C. No animal besides extremophiles can live at that temperature so of course it's 100 F. You want a basking spot of around 100 for your beardie. you don't want the whole cage to be 100. there should be a cooler end at the tank. At night, the temperature should go down 75 degrees. You do not want the tank to be 100 constantly

  2. its 100F and if your talking about a heat mat then that should be on 24/7. though if its a heat lamp u will neat 2 lamps one with a white light for teh day and one with a black light for the night.

  3. The temperature on the warm side should be between 90F and 110F (the latter if they're younger). If it were 100C your house would burn down and the little critter would be fried. The peak temperature should not be the constant temperature either, that's unhealthy.

Bearded dragons being "lazy" is really quite normal. They spend most of their time basking, not to mention as they get older they get calmer. It's perfectly normal. Being unresponsive normally means that your not bothering him as much and he's beginning to trust you.
