i have a "baby" bearded dragon thay won't eat very much. he's about 5 inches long from the tip of his snout to the end of his tail. he only eats about 5 crickts a day and will only eat vegtables if i put them right in front of him. my parent refuse to take him to the vet because they think it is a waste of money and that "we might as well buy a new bearded dragon," but i dont feel the same way. what can i do to get him to eat more?

  1. allow him several hours of direct sunlight. if you put him outside, stay with him. fire ants are very sneaky and will kill him if they get a chance. also, you might try misting his food lightly with water and adding vitamins to his drinking water.

  2. how long have u had him? maybe soemthing scared him and he doesnt know that he has a home yet .

  3. 1) Let it bask in 90-105 degree temp for about an hour before feeding (Allows for proper digestion)

2)He could be (since he's new) that he's a little stressed. He could need a little time to adjust.

    3) If he doesn't eat in 2-3 days from now, I'd probabally recommend taking him to the vet. It's not a waste of money, He needs to be cared for.

  4. Have you tried Fruit? They love Mango, let him walk outside. He probably just feels trapped. He needs a bit of freedom.

  5. follow this procedure carefully.

you need to get some food, whatever your feeding it.

then go find a scalpal or a sharp knife

after that make a large inscision on its stomache and aggressivly lodge in about 19 crickets and a small bushell of cabage. And then smash your dragons stomach with a closed fist, so that the food doesnt need to be digested. then purchase some duct tape and close him up

    good luck!!

  6. Check the temperatures in his cage.  He needs a basking spot that's around 95-105 degrees F (35-40 C).  The rest of his cage should be cooler around the 80's F (26 - 30 C).  Make sure he has a good water source.  If there's still an eating problem it could be what "maddie" says.  Whatever you do don't attempt "letlesbianslove's" answer.

  7. He really might not even be that hungry. Plus if he is stressed he wont eat. And if wont eat his vegetables, try mixing it up a little. Give him more vegetables and see what he likes
