My dragon has laid 9 eggs about 15 mins ago and so far i have placed them in a plastic container with calcium sand in the bottom and a lid with holes in it. I have placed it on a heat mat and have poured water in to the corners of the sand .

Is this the correct thing to do ??

Thanks Paul

  1. Thats perfect, and fine if you have no incubator but place a thermometer in there and everytime you check, blow a puff off air in them so they have oxygen to be safe...

Hope this helps and good luck with the eggs

  2. Its no good putting them on sand as it will not keep the eggs at the correct humidity, the sand will just absorb any moisture in the tub.The eggs need high humidity to keep hydrated and incubate correctly.Change the sand to either vermiculite or sphagnum moss and run the heat mat through a thermostat otherwise you have no idea of the temp in the tub and will end up cooking the eggs.you also only need one or two holes in each side of the box as again any moisture will escape through the holes and the temp will fluctuate too much.
