If I buy this for my 30" tank:

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753221

Does anybody know the size of the bulbs for that? 24" right?

Also, read the product description:

ESU Reptile 30" Lighting and Screen Cover Kit - fits 20 gallon long or 29 gallon (12" x 30") terrariums.

Kit includes:

ESU Reptile 30" Tri-Light™ Fixture that holds 3 incandescent bulbs (not included) and on/off switches for day and night lighting.

Two 100 watt Brightlight™ incandescent full-spectrum daylight heat lamps.

100 watt Nightlight™ incandescent nocturnal black heat lamp.

Tough-Top™ 12" x 30" screen cover with center hinge.

Tough-Top™ small screen cover clips.

Tough-Top™ "hold-tight" screen cover clips.

It says bulbs not included, but it comes with 3? I'm confused! Oh and "full spectrum"? Does that include UVB or will I have to buy a seperate bulb? LOL! Sorry, I want whats best for my baby. =P

  1. A mercury Light is the best spot one and use a red one at night. They can't see the red light so it does not disturb them

  2. hes probably acting odd cuz you are using a uva bulb

  3. Honestly...dont waste your money.....alot of the long bulbs like that say that they are full spectrum but they arent...

Yes full spectrum means uva and uvb...and you do need one but you do not need the night lights...those are more for geckos...

you wont need the locking clips beardies arent usually strong enough to push a lid up...thats more for snakes.

Your best bet is to get a heat lamp and a uva uvb bulb....thats really all you need you can turn the lights off at night because the temps should drop to like 75 degrees.

I have actually bought one of these before and the lights DO NOT come with it....and sometimes it was hard to find new bulbs for it....and just to let you know.........even though the bulbs still light up they may not be putting out any uva or uvb so you wanna change your lights out about every six months.

And your gonna want a bigger cage too beardies grow really fast...you should just start with a 55 gallon that way you dont have to buy another one in a few months.

  4. If you look at the box it should say what size bulbs, or call the store and ask them about the size.  The "full spectrum" covers the UV. If the light has two separate on switches that is a good thing, for a 20 or 29 gallon I think the full 200W would keep the tank too warm. So keep the day on and then turn on the night, not both at once. However if once you have them on and the tank isn't warm enough during the day turn both on. You will need to pay close attention to temps for the first couple of days while it's settling. The basking spot should be around 100 and the rest of the tank no cooler than 80 during day and no lower than 65 at night,  Good luck.
